The poor diet that comes with food insecurity carries physical and mental health challenges for adults and children. We have cultivated partnerships with local growers and health professionals with the goal of creating our “Food is Medicine” initiative at One Church Street to address chronic diet-related diseases like diabetes by providing healthy foods and dietary education. Studies have shown that nutrition can be twice as effective as medication, while providing cost savings to the community through reduced Medicaid spending.

How can OCS provide amazing FREE programs like the next Pre-Diabetic/Diabetic Nutrition Awareness class (value $1200)??
Because we have local Foundations that are willing to invest in the health of our community!
Heartfelt thanks to the Johnstown Hospital Foundation for making our Food is Medicine Class possible! (Class begins July 2nd–only 6 spaces left. Reserve yours by calling 518-610-1111)
